If you are headed down the aisle or have recently taken that trip, marriage may mean more than just a name change or a change of address.

Real Estate: Changing deeds of previously owned property to “tenants by the entireties” a category only available to married persons.

Employment: Change the beneficiaries on retirement accounts and life insurance policies; check out health insurance options.

Will: If you have a will, it must be changed if you wish to include your spouse as a beneficiary. You should consider an estate plan and the naming of a guardian for minor children.

Tax Planning: With a wedding, you are now eligible to file jointly. Make sure that is the right thing for you.

These considerations are important for all couples who recently wed or are soon to be married.
