Biography
James is a litigator and problem solver whose practice centers on real estate, professional-licensure defense, and administrative law. He represents real estate brokers, agents, buyers, and other industry participants in all matters ranging from defending brokers and agents in civil lawsuits to handling litigation involving commercial real estate valued in the tens of millions of dollars. His experience also includes briefing and arguing precedent-setting appeals before the Pennsylvania Superior Court, with outcomes that impact billions of dollars in commerce across the Commonwealth.
James also maintains a robust professional-licensure practice, representing and defending clients before nearly every Pennsylvania board and commission including the Real Estate Commission, Board of Medicine, Board of Nursing, Board of Dentistry, Board of Occupational Therapy, Board of Certified Real Estate Appraisers, and the Board for Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists, and Professional Counselors.
Uniquely, James also has substantial experience representing law students and recent law graduates seeking admission to the Pennsylvania Bar who are undergoing character and fitness evaluations or appeals. He assists clients throughout the admission process, including counseling regarding law school applications and disclosures, updating applications following reportable events, and representing applicants before the Pennsylvania Board of Law Examiners in matters involving character and fitness and admission to practice law. Although many large law firms may advertise experience in this area, character and fitness and bar-admission matters are highly specialized, and relatively few attorneys have substantial firsthand experience navigating these proceedings and advocating for applicants before the Pennsylvania Board of Law Examiners.
In his state administrative law practice, James has represented clients in administrative proceedings before the Pennsylvania Insurance Department, the Public Utility Commission, the Pennsylvania Department of Health, the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission, and the Office of Inspector General.
Federally, James has represented clients both in Federal District Court and Bankruptcy Court as well as before the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
