Mette, Attorneys at Law, one of Central Pennsylvania’s most storied full-service law firms, today announced that Cognetti Law Group is joining its ranks, an addition led by renowned and celebrated family law attorney Maria P. Cognetti, Esq.

The move unites two firms with deep roots in the Pennsylvania legal community, combining Mette’s 56-year legacy of broad, sophisticated legal counsel with Cognetti Law Group’s 46-year reputation as the region’s foremost authority in family law. The result is a strengthened, full-service firm capable of serving clients with an even deeper bench of expertise across virtually every area of the law.

Maria P. Cognetti is one of the most decorated family law practitioners in the nation. In practice since 1978, she founded the firm now known as Cognetti Law Group and has spent nearly five decades mastering the complexities of high-asset divorce, custody litigation, business valuation in marital estates, prenuptial agreements, and family law mediation. She has served as President of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, a Fellow of the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and holds the distinction of Diplomate of the American College of Family Trial Lawyers — among the highest honors in her field. Her fingerprints are literally on Pennsylvania law itself: Cognetti played a direct role in drafting the landmark revisions to Pennsylvania’s custody statutes.
