Howell has spent his distinguished career focusing on providing legal counsel related to federal and state taxation, business reorganizations, mergers and acquisitions and business sales, estate planning and estate administration. He has been selected by his peers every year since 2009 for inclusion in The Best Lawyers® for his work in trusts & estates.
In addition to practicing law, Howell has dedicated himself to passing on his legal knowledge to others. He was an adjunct Professor of Law at Pennsylvania State University – Dickinson Law and received the Edward C. First Distinguished Faculty Achievement Award. Howell has also been a frequent lecturer before the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, the Dickinson Forum and numerous tax seminars. His passion for education was recognized by the Dickinson School of Law with an Honorary Doctor of Laws degree.
A long-time Central Pennsylvania resident, he has contributed his time and resources to numerous community and professional organizations. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and served for many years as a Trustee of the Pennsylvania Bar Trust and Insurance Trust. Howell is also the Treasurer of the Dauphin County Bar Foundation and a board member of the HACC Foundation.
