U.S. Department of Labor Overtime Pay Rule
The Department of Labor has updated and revised the regulations regarding overtime pay. Now, an employee who is classified as executive, administrative, or professional must earn over $455 per week to be exempt from overtime pay. Effective January 1, 2020, that amount will be raised to $684 per week. Therefore, any employee who as of January 1, 2020 earns less than $684 per week, regardless of their position, must be paid time and a half for every hour over 40 worked in any week.
